1. Does the procedure have to be done at any particular time of the menstrual cycle?
It is preferable to perform a Sono HSG with FemVue during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle. Ideally it should be performed right after menses has completed and before ovulation.
2. What if my patient has a latex allergy?
The FemVue device does not contain latex.
3. How long does the procedure typically take?
In a patient with non-occluded tubes, one can expect to be able to document patency in a few minutes. If one or both tubes are not patent, the procedure can take longer.
4. Do I or my sonographer need any special training to perform the procedure?
No special training is required to utilize the FemVue Saline - Air device.
5. Do I need to pre-medicate my patient for the procedure?
Physicians who have performed a Sono HSG with FemVue have followed the same pre-medication regimen as for an SIS procedure.
6. What if I am unable to determine whether a tube is patent or not?
If you are unable to definitively document tubal patency on either tube, it is suggested that you utilize another diagnostic modality, such as
a fluoroscopic HSG or Chromopertubation to determine patency.
